Tips for the New School Year

As September begins, so does the new school year for many students and teachers alike and with this new phase comes much anxiety, anticipation and excitement. Whether it is Kindergarten or University, here are some things to consider to help reduce the stresses that occur and make the school year more enjoyable and productive for both students and their guardians.

Although students can be of any age or capability, these tips are useful for anyone entering academia this year and looking to make the best of it. One of the most crucial tips to keep in mind is maintaining a balanced and consistent schedule. This includes making sure you receive adequate sleep every night, eat multiple times a day and engage in hobbies, social activities, exercise and required work when you can.

Additionally, nerves and stress are common in any academic setting, acknowledging and being open about these feelings can help reduce unwanted tension, provide a bigger perspective and create an open space for everyone. Lastly, do everything to the best of your ability and try not to overwork yourself or feel discouraged about not reaching goals. By organizing your time to fit in the school work that must be done it will feel less overwhelming, prevent burnout and promote feelings of accomplishment. Try different ways of doing the work to find what's best for you and take pride in what you were able to accomplish so far.
