Fees and Insurance Coverage

Insurance Coverage for Mental Health Related Services

Our services are covered by most extended health benefit insurance plans. Please check your insurance plan regarding coverage and claim procedures (e.g., whether or not a letter or referral from your physician is required, details required on receipts, amount per session, per person, per calendar year, etc.). Further, if you or a loved one were involved in a motor vehicle accident as a pedestrian, bike rider, passenger, or driver, and were impacted psychologically as a result of the accident, you and your family members could use your accident benefits for psychological assessments, relationship health and family assessments, therapy, therapeutic devices, and more, if approved by your insurer (see more helpful information regarding MVAs below). Moreover, if you were psychologically impacted by an incident in your workplace, then, if approved, your fees will be covered and paid directly by the Workplace Safety Insurance Board (WSIB).  Unfortunately, psychological services are not yet covered by OHIP (Ontario Health Insurance Plan), but mental health associations are actively advocating for that to change. we encourage you to write to your political representatives to be a part of the movement.

Insurance Coverage for Pain Management Services

Treatments of chronic pain management services are covered by OHIP (Ontario Health Insurance Plan), with the exception of RTMS (Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation), but you must be referred to the clinic by a doctor or nurse practitioner. You will need to bring your health card to your first appointment. Further, if you were involved in a motor vehicle accident as a pedestrian, bike rider, passenger, or driver, and developed chronic pain as a result of the accident, your pain management treatments could be covered by your insurer, if approved.

Fees for Counselling Services

Our current fee schedule ranges from $180.00 (plus applicable taxes) to $280.00 (plus applicable taxes) per hour, depending on the nature of the service provided, plus the training and experience of the Therapist. All fees follow the guidelines set by the Ontario Psychological Association and College of Registered Psychotherapists for consultation and counselling. Note that Psychotherapy fees are taxable. Your fee will be determined once the best matched Therapist is determined and assigned to you by our Clinical Director, based on your case and needs. You will be advised beforehand if any changes are made to the agreed-upon fee. All efforts are made to provide affordable psychological services.

Fees for Life Coaching Services

Our current fee schedule ranges from $180.00 (plus applicable taxes) to $450.00 (plus applicable taxes) per hour, depending on the nature of the service provided and the training and experience of the Therapist/Life Coach. Your fee will be determined once the best matched Therapist/Life Coach is determined and assigned to you by our Clinical Director, based on your case and needs. You will be advised beforehand if any changes are made to the agreed-upon fee.

Fees for Group Therapy

Our current fee schedule ranges from $599.00 (plus applicable taxes) for a 4-week group to $1099.00 (plus applicable taxes) for an 8-week group.

Fees for Business Coaching and Corporate Transformation Services

Our current fee schedule ranges from $450.00 (plus applicable taxes) to $750.00 (plus applicable taxes) per hour, and $5000.00 (plus applicable taxes) to $15,000.00 (plus applicable taxes) per contract, depending on the nature of the service provided. Please book a meeting with our Clinical Director for further information by contacting our head office here

Payments

To secure your appointment, a deposit in the full charge of the session must be paid no later than 24-hours before a scheduled appointment. Weekend sessions have a surcharge of $35.00 plus HST (which may be waived for special circumstances). Our head office manages payments for all our clinicians and locations, thus, we must ensure that a booked appointment is secured so that our Clinicians'/Life Coaches' time and our office space bookings are respected. We value our therapists and their time and appreciate client cooperation in this regard. A receipt will be given once the session has ended. Please retain this receipt for your insurance or income tax claims, if applicable. If you are submitting your receipt to an insurance provider for reimbursement, it is advisable that you do so after each session so that the account remains manageable and counselling/coaching becomes a naturally budgeted expense.

Cancellation Policy

Less than 24-hour notice requires that the full session fees still be paid, and session be forfeited. Payments for sessions that are paid in full and then cancelled, with more than twenty-four-hour notice, will be credited to the next session/refunded and no sessions will be forfeited. It is important to arrive on time. Late arrival will shorten the session duration, as our Clinicans'/Life Coaches' must have time to write their session notes and start their next session on time.

Under their automobile insurance policy, residents of Ontario may be eligible for compensation of the following after motor vehicle accidents: loss of income, medical expenses, family expenses, and the cost of hiring caregiver assistance.  (If you reside in a different province, please contact us for more information).

In order to apply for compensation, you must report the accident to the police after you were injured in a car accident. You must also report your injuries to your insurance company within seven days, and complete the Application for Accident Benefits form which they will provide.

Governed by the Insurance Act, Statutory Accident Benefits (SABS) are available to all Ontario residents; depending on your case, you may be eligible for the following accident benefits:

  • Rehabilitation benefit
You may receive compensation for necessary and reasonable expenses for services that are intended to reduce the effects of your disability or injury, with the goal of being able to return to as normal a life as was enjoyed prior to the accident. Some of the treatments and services that may be included are: home modifications to accommodate disability needs, transportation to and from counselling, life skills training, vocational training, workplace modifications, financial counselling and family counselling.

We at Mind by Design™ are proud to have a strong and trusted network of Personal Support Workers, Occupational Therapists and Caseworkers. If you wish to be referred, feel free to contact us.

  • Medical benefits
You are eligible for compensation for any reasonable expenses incurred as a result of the accident. This may include dental, optometric, ambulance, chiropractic, hearing aids and medication. It may also include the cost of transportation to various medical treatments.

For a chronic pain assessment and/or pain management treatments, contact one of our pain doctors here.

  • Income replacement benefit
If you are unable to work, you may receive 70 per cent of your gross weekly income, not exceeding $400 weekly. To be eligible, you must have been employed at the time of the accident, or employed for at least 26 weeks of the year previous to the accident and were receiving Employment Insurance benefits at the time of the accident. Self-employed persons are also eligible for this benefit.

  • Non-earner benefit
If you are not eligible for income replacement, but are unable to function normally in your daily life, your insurer has to pay the non-earner benefit, which is $185 weekly, but increases to $320 weekly if more than 104 weeks elapsed since the injury or disability, and you continue to be unable to carry on a normal life. This benefit is intended for students who were enrolled full time at the time of the accident, or graduated within one year of the accident but have not yet found employment.

  • Caregiver benefits
You are eligible for caregiver benefits if you have had a catastrophic injury after your accident and are unable to continue performing caregiving activities. You must not be receiving income replacement or the non-earner benefit. You must also have been the primary caregiver, living with the person who is in need of care, and not paid for this service. This benefit is $250 weekly for the first dependent person and $50 weekly for each additional person.
